Assistive Technology (AT) can be the key to some learners’ success within education. An early and positive experience with AT while in Primary Education will equip the learner with the skills and attitude that will provide the solid foundation they will need as they progress through second level and beyond. This course is aimed at teachers, special needs assistants, parents and anybody else with an interest in harnessing digital technologies to support children in Primary Level education and create expert learners.

Enable Ireland’s Certified Foundations in Assistive Technology is a 5 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) course accredited by Technological University Dublin, through the College of Engineering and Built Environment. In total, the time commitment is 100 hours: 11 x 2.5 hr webinars (27.5 hrs) PLUS 72.5 hrs e-learning which includes completion of your course project. You will get the chance to hear from, and interact with, national and international AT experts, AT users and professionals working in the field. We will also use Teams to support group work, problem solving and case studies throughout the course.
The 11 webinars are delivered in the following format over a total of 7 weeks : 2 webinars per week every second week with one webinar per week on the intervening weeks. The project submission deadline is 16th April 2025.
