Assistive Technology Podcasts

As you may know podcasts are a series of usually audio files that can be either downloaded or streamed over the internet. They can be played using a computer or mobile device. Sometimes podcast are just recordings of live programs but they can also be the digital medium that a service or broadcaster will use to inform or entertain its listeners.  Typically podcasts are archive to allow the listen play past recordings.

Within assistive technology there are a number of services that use podcasts to highlight or share information.

Some examples of these include the following below

NCBI’s Technology Podcast. This is a monthly programme of the latest technical innovations from NCBI, as well as contributions from their listeners, interviews with Assistive Technology companies and tutorials and product demonstrations.

How to be Blind is a community driven website with multiple podcasts and blog posts on a variety of subjects.  These can cover subject such as techniques and advice for dealing with recent vision loss to discussion on the latest in the world of technology and accessibility.  They regularly cover accessible apps and programs and have a growing list of accessible apps and programs for Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac.

Assistive Technology Update
