Making a Touch Screen Stylus from Household Items

Now and again, as you clumsily stab your finger at a touchscreen, you may wonder if having a stylus might make things easier. But what if you don’t have one to hand?

I followed a simple CNET tutorial, which uses items that are found in most homes: A biro type pen, a cotton bud, tin foil, sellotape and scissors. You will also need a cup of water for when you are using the stylus.

The video I followed is this one. The process starts at 45seconds in and is very easy to follow.

It’s important to keep the cotton bud tip wet when using the stylus, so I kept a small saucer of water close by to re-dip the tip into regularly.

I also tried this out with a marker to have a thicker structure to hold onto – it worked well, I just had to pack around the cotton bud to hold it a bit more firmly.

The finished products!
